A passenger who rode a Centro bus route that serves Syracuse University tested positive for COVID-19, potentially exposing other riders, the Onondaga County Health Department confirmed Saturday.

Health department investigators are working to identify anyone the rider came in close contact with and will reach out to them, the health department said in a press release.

Anyone who rode the SU/Nobb Hill 240 route between 6:40 a.m. and 6:55 a.m. on Oct. 21, 22, 23 and 26 should monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms, the health department said.

The potential exposures come amid a sharp rise in cases of the virus in the county. New cases in the county jumped by 70 Thursday, 99 Friday and 71 Saturday.
