Hendrik Hilpert named ACC Defensive Player of the Week

Hilpert shutout both Wake Forest and Ohio State in SU's last two games.
Goalkeeper Hendrik Hilpert was announced as Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning. In addition, the United Soccer Coaches named Hilpert its Division I Player of the Week. The senior has allowed just two goals in No. 24 Syracuse’s (6-4-1, 1-3-0) last 392 minutes of soccer.
The Orange is riding a three-game winning streak. It bested then-No.1 Wake Forest Friday. Hilpert predicted a win, then led SU in the 2-0 shutout. Last night, Syracuse easily defeated Ohio State behind another shutout. The streak has gotten SU its first placement on the United Soccer Coaches ranking list as well.
Syracuse travels to No. 11 Louisville (6-2-2, 3-1-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m.
