Organization to offer students airport shuttles, round trip buses for Spring Break destinations
The Student Association will be offering students round trip buses for Spring Break to popular East Coast destinations.
“It’s important to offer the buses to give students an easy access opportunity to travel during the break,” said Lyle Weston, director of public relations for SA. “Going home is something almost everyone looks forward to and it’s our job to offer that opportunity for students who might not otherwise be able to arrange it.”
Trip destinations being offered include New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Rockaway, New Jersey, according to an email sent to the Syracuse University student body on Monday.
“We feel like this is a great opportunity to easily schedule a round trip to the city to which students would like to go,” Weston said. “If students fill up the buses it assures that we will continue to be able to run then every year and continue this offer.”
Round trip tickets for these locations are $99 and can be purchased at the Schine Box Office. Buses for all destinations will depart in front of the Schine Student Center on Friday at 5 p.m. Buses will then depart from their various drop off locations March 15 at 10 a.m., according to the email.
Drop-off and pick-up locations are:
New York City: Bryant Park, 42nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues
Boston: South Station, 700 Atlantic Ave.
Washington, D.C.: Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Avenue NE
Philadelphia: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street
Rockaway: Rockaway Mall, 301 Mt. Hope Ave.
Additionally, there will be shuttles to the Syracuse Hancock International Airport and the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center. Shuttles will depart from the back of Schine along Waverly Avenue on the hour. They will drop-off/pickup at the RTC 20 minutes past the hour, and drop-off/pickup at the airport 30 minutes past the hour.
Shuttle hours are:
March 5: 4-10 p.m.
March 6: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
March 7: 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
March 15: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
Correction: In a March 5 article titled, “Group to offer Spring Break buses,” the location where buses would pick students up on campus was misstated. The buses would pick students up in back of the Schine Student Center, along Waverly Avenue. The Daily Orange regrets this error.
