T-Pain, Flo Milli, Doechii and Yung Gravy will light up the stage at Skytop Field this Sunday at University Union’s annual Juice Jam. Prepare for the show with these playlists.

T-Pain
Born Faheem Rashad Najm in Tallahassee, Florida, T-Pain last performed in Syracuse in 2018, and remains one of the prominent faces of 2000s music. The rapper and songwriter currently has six studio albums, mainly concentrated in R&B and hip-hop. He has been nominated for 12 total GRAMMYs and won two — for “Good Life” with Kanye West in 2008 and “Blame It” with Jamie Foxx in 2010.

Through the use of autotune, which started with his second album, “Epiphany,” T-Pain defined a new kind of rap through pitch correction, popularizing the distortion of vocal sound. This style is now present in many different artists’ work, including Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Future and Kanye West.

His most recent song, “I’m Blue,” is a collaboration with electronic music producer Softest Hard and was released in July of 2022. The tune samples Eiffel 65’s 1998 hit, “Blue,” and recreates the extremely popular dance beat with new, electronic additions.

Flo Milli
Born Tamia Monique Carter, Flo Milli grew up in Mobile, Alabama, where she wrote her first song at age nine and started rapping at 11 with her group, Real & Beautiful. She listened to Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton and Erykah Badu in her youth, and they eventually influenced her own music.

She currently focuses her work in hip-hop and trap. When she released her single, “Beef FloMix” with Playboi Carti in 2018, it gained significant traction on Instagram and Tiktok, and landed the number two spot on Spotify’s Viral 50 in April of 2019. And in 2020, she was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Two years ago, her mixtape entitled “Ho Why Are You Here?” made it onto the Billboard 200 Chart. She released her follow-up mixtape, “You Still Here Ho?,” which contains her recent hit “Conceited,” in July.

Yung Gravy
American rapper Yung Gravy, born Matthew Raymond Hauri, first gained popularity when his SoundCloud track, “Mr. Clean,” went viral in 2017. The rapper’s music is largely influenced by trap music, with touches of soul and funk from the 1970s and 80s. His inspirations for his music range from Nate Dogg, Curren$y, Action Bronson and OutKast. Yung Gravy has released seven EPs, three albums and one mixtape.

Though he’s primarily a rapper, Yung Gravy’s fame nowadays comes from TikTok. Firstly, his song “Betty (Get Money)” became a trending sound on the app, until he went viral for being what he refers to as a “MILF connoisseur.”

Doechii
Originally from Tampa, Florida, Doechii is an American rapper who, like Yung Gravy and Flo Milli, got a career boost from TikTok when her song “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” became a trending song. Through her lively rap style, Doechii delivers quirky narratives in her songs. Overall, Doechii’s music doesn’t fit into one genre.

Born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon, Doechii released her first song, “Girls,” on Soundcloud under the name Iamdoechii. In the following years, she created larger projects: “Coven Music Session Vol. 1” in 2019, and “Oh The Places You’ll Go,” her debut EP, in 2020.
