Fire contained in 2nd-floor room at students’ Livingston Avenue house

Justin Mattingly | The Daily Orange

The fire was contained in but shattered a window of the second-floor room where it started.

A residential fire in a Livingston Avenue house that is home to Syracuse University students required the attention of fire department and law enforcement officials on Thursday afternoon.

There were no injuries and only minor damage that resulted from the fire, said Brian Sheerin, a fire investigator for the Syracuse Fire Department. He added that it was a “very minor electrical fire” and accidental but could not go into further detail about the cause of the fire because an insurance agency hadn’t been there yet.

A neighbor and friend of the students who live in the house said the fire was contained in the second-floor room it started in. A street-facing window of that room was shattered.
