As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, 14.2 percent of the Syracuse University student body had voted in the 2015 Student Association election, an SA official said.

The 14.2 percentage mark surpasses the 10 percent needed for the election to become official, meaning elections will not run into Friday, said Janine Bogris, vice chair of elections on the Board of Elections and Membership. There are five total pairs of candidates campaigning for president and vice president and voting runs through Thursday on MySlice.

Four of the five pairings are write-in candidates and do not appear on the ballot. Presidential candidate Aysha Seedat and her running mate, Jane Hong, are the only candidates who do appear on the ballot.

The last time elections were held, in November of 2013, a total of 31 percent of students voted in the election.

Voting is being done through MySlice and votes are being cast for president and vice president, comptroller and student representatives. There is also a New York Public Interest Research Group Referendum on the ballot to determine if the organization has the support of the student body.
